New High Performance Transit-Time Flowmeter from Accusonic
7/10/2012 10-Path, High Accuracy Flowmeter for Unique Applications

West Wareham, MA (July 10, 2012) Accusonic® Technologies, a Division of ADS® LLC, today announces the new high performance Accusonic Model 8510 - a multiple-path, transit-time flowmeter. This high-accuracy, backward compatible meter is designed to conquer challenging installation and measurement requirements associated with large pipes and channels in a variety of applications.

Accusonic flowmeters are the established leader in hydropower flow metering with over 40 years of continuous service. Accusonic’s reputation for success in improving hydropower efficiency has made them the standard for flow measurement. In the water and wastewater industry, this meter was designed to meet the installation challenges of large ultraviolet (UV) disinfection systems which require a very accurate flow measurement to operate most efficiently. Many flow measurement technologies cannot fit into the limited available space within a typical large UV system piping layout and the complex piping makes it very daunting for most flow technologies to provide an accurate flow measurement.

“Accusonic is a worldwide leader in the engineering and supply of high performance flow measurement systems for the Power (thermal and hydro), Water, and Wastewater industries.” states John Trofatter, General Manager of Accusonic Technologies. “Our newest generation flowmeter, the 8510, comes with a full complement of communication protocols, state-of-the-art HMI and data management functions. The 8510 is the sixth generation of Accusonic flowmeters and represents the culmination of years of R&D efforts.”

Measurable pipe and channel sizes range from 8 inches (200 mm) to 600 feet (180 m). Utilizing multiple-path, chordal, transit-time technology, the repeatable and achievable accuracy is ± 0.5% in full pipes and ± 2.0% in partially full pipes and channels (even in the presence of flow profile distortions and cross flow).

A flexible offering of Accusonic transducers is available including designs for hazardous area installations, exposed pipes of all materials, buried or encased pipes, and pipes and channels that cannot be dewatered. The 8510 is fully backwards compatible with all prior Accusonic transducer models. For more information visit www.accusonic.com .
